Rita’s paintings have received international and national recognition from International Artist magazine, Oil Painters of America, The Artist’s magazine, Raymar Art, and the BoldBrush competition. She was the featured Artist at the 28th Oxford Fine Arts Fair and is a featured artist on the Daily Paintworks website. Landscape awards include Artists’ Choice from Paint Annapolis and Best of Show from the Solomons Art Festival. Her work is included in the book 100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic. Many of her illustrations are in World Health Organization manuals around the globe.

Rita’s morning class alternates between painting energetic still life one week and lively figures in the landscape the following week. The emphasis is always on big shapes, simple values, bold brushwork, and rich color. Blues and greens will get particular attention as we move toward the summer months. As always, Rita will sneak in important concepts you wish you’d learned in art school.

Private instruction for students who would like their work to reach a higher level of competence in a shorter period of time. Instructor and student work together to identify the student’s artistic goals and to design a strategy that helps the student more quickly achieve their objective.
The Mentoring Program offers a Single-Person Plan and a Two-Person Plan.
