- Basic set of gouaches. Split primary (warm and cool of each primary), white, black and a gray. Earth tones like yellow ochre and burnt sienna are also good.

- Synthetic watercolor brushes, variety pack of flats and roundsmixing tray with space to actually mix colorpencil, black pen, small round brushes for drawing

If you don’t have time or want to spend the money on new stuff then you can use watercolor with a tube of white gouache and the above accompanying materials.

- same range of colors, pens pencils, small round brush mixing trays etc. as we will be working smaller, big bristle brushes don’t work.
- inexpensive variety of small to medium synthetic acrylic or watercolor brushes
- or oil if that’s what you have
- gessoed watercolor paper or gessoed cardboard or matte board
- cheap canvas doesn’t work for small studies
