- Basic set of gouaches. Split primary (warm and cool of each primary), white, black and a gray. Earth tones like yellow ochre and burnt sienna are also good.

If you don’t have time or want to spend the money on new stuff then you can use watercolor with a tube of white gouache and the above accompanying materials.
